Carmarthen Spinners Weavers and Dyers have been meeting since three friends met in a front room on 16th February 1987.
We now have over 30 members and in 2024 became affiliated to the Association of Guilds of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers.

Workshops

We hold workshops throughout the year, to develop and share our skills. Most of the workshops are lead by members of the group and vary from quick pop-ups, which only last an hour, to full days. Once a year we invite an outside tutor to lead a masterclass.
Recent workshops have included blending colours with hand carders, making Dorset buttons, felting using a resist, acid and plant dying, core spinning and nettle fibre preparation.

Spinning Demonstrations

During the summer months, we attend events throughout Carmarthenshire, demonstrating our skills and chatting with the public. As well as attending agricultural shows and the Llandovery Sheep Festival several members have given talks at local W.I. groups.
We have a long-established relationship with the National Botanic Garden of Wales, where we spin one day a month, chatting to visitors about our craft and raising our group's profile.
Along with other local guilds we will be exhibiting at the National Wool Museum over the next few years.
