The Carmarthen
Spinners, Weavers and Dyers began
as a group in 1987 as a small informal gathering of enthusiasts, interested
in all aspects of fibre crafts.
We meet on the first Saturday of each month in the Community Education
centre in Furnace road.
We have a wide mixture of skills gleaned over many years of experience
and come together to share this and to encourage others to try new techniques.
The annual programme is organised to give us a workshop every other
month and a Social Spin in between, anyone is welcome to drop in for a visit bring a wheel or spindle if you have one. (There is a selection of equipment available to hire to members)
There is a bi-monthly newsletter to the members and contributions
are welcome.
Past workshops include:
Colour Blending/Cardboard Weaving/Kumihimo/Temari/Indigo Dyeing/Natural
Dyeing/Felting slippers and Bags/Weaving off loom and on looms, and many
more.
Apart from our monthly meets at Carmarthen we have a day demonstrating
at the National Botanic Gardens each month and also at many local
Agricultural shows throughout the season.
